Vumatel has announced that the Johannesburg suburbs of Emmarentia, Forest Town, Parktown, Gallo Manor and Melrose are all set to get fibre to the home (FTTH) in coming months. Construction has already begun in Emmarentia, with installation in the other four suburbs set to kick off early next year.
The news comes just over a week after the company announced that Investec has acquired a minority stake in it. Although the details of the detail haven’t been revealed, we expect it’ll mean that Vumatel’s expansion ramps up even faster.
Vumatel already has active infrastructure in Parkhurst, Parktown North, Greenside, Killarney, Riviera, Saxonwold and Parkwood and construction is underway in Blairgowrie, Victory Park, Linden, Hurlingham, Glenadrienne, Willowild, Riepen Park and Bryanston.
“This is an extremely exciting period for the company, and we continue to focus on our commitment to deploy affordable, high speed FTTH to 100,000 homes by the end of 2016,” says Vumatel CEO Niel Schoeman.
Consumers that want to encourage Vumatel to roll out FTTH in their neighbourhoods can express their interest here.
