It should come as no surprise that we really love drones, and are always happy when they do really extraordinary things. Things like giving us footage of an erupting volcano.
We’ve seen drones capturing video of surfers at Pipeline in Hawaii before but when it spits there, fire isn’t much of a hazard. The short video, uploaded by YouTuber Shaun O’Callaghan, was shot from a DJI Phantom quad-copter, and shows some incredible footage of the Yasur volcano’s eruption on Tanna Island.
The best thing about it, apart from the lava and sheer awesomeness of the close-up shots and flying lava, is the fact that the drone made it out alive, for which it deserves a medal for going above and beyond the call of drone duty.
Apart from Shaun’s vid, which you can check out above. You can also check out another volcano eruption shot via drone here.
