Pick n Pay has officially launched Smart Shopper Pro – a new subscription tier meant to complement in-store shopping as well as the company’s asap! delivery service. Subscribing unlocks unlimited ‘free’ deliveries when shopping on asap! – saving you R37 per order – and other benefits, such as triple Smart Shopper points.
Pick n Pay’s gone Pro
If that at all sounds like Checkers’ own monthly subscription service, well done. Checkers has been ahead of the game for some time now, with other brands all playing catch-up. Pick n Pay has come closest. Perhaps because it’s essentially copying the Checkers’ Xtra Saving Plus scheme, right down to the R99/m price. At first, anyway.
Users of the Pick n Pay asap! app will already be aware of Smart Shopper Pro. You can’t miss it when opening up the app, which also confirms the R99/m price won’t stick around forever. It’s a ‘deal’ meant to celebrate the service’s launch, before it eventually settles on the official price of R149/m. Pick n Pay did not confirm how long the service would remain at R99/m at the time of publication. Users can sign up today via Pick n Pay asap!

Pick n Pay confirmed exactly which perks subscribers can look forward to:
- Unlimited free asap! deliveries on grocery and clothing orders over R350
- Triple Smart Shopper points on fresh groceries, including fresh fruit and vegetables, bakery, butchery and dairy – both in-store and on asap!
- An extra 10% off in-store shopping, up to R200 a month
- Double Smart Shopper points on BP fuel purchases
“Our goal is always to make every shop go further for our customers. Whether they’re doing their weekly shop in store, getting groceries or clothing delivered on asap!, choosing fresh food for their families or filling up at BP, Pro gives them more back on the spending they already do. That’s what makes it valuable – the benefits fit around their lives, not the other way around,” said Vince Viviers, innovation and digital transformation exec.
