We may have our issues with the Oppo A6, but we’re willing to put that all behind us. According to a new leak from Digital Chat Station (via GSM Arena), the company is currently prepping the new Oppo A7 Pro Max. The brand hopes that a 10,000mAh battery will be enough to convince buyers to upgrade. Heck, it might.
That’s assuming Oppo South Africa is still kicking by the time it’s ready for release. A recent report from ITWeb notes that the company’s South African arm is in the process of retrenching more than a few employees. According to an unnamed source, the company laid off as many as thirteen people as part of the restructure.

What that means for the upcoming Oppo A7 Pro Max is still unclear at the time of writing. It seemingly has all the hallmarks of a mid-range phone, barring that overqualified 10,000mAh battery, so there’s a chance we see it here.
We’d certainly like to, if the company can get the pricing right. Last year, we saw the A6 Pro land at a relatively welcome R11,000, ’til the weaker A6 turned up this year with a less-palatable R9,000. The A7 Pro Max would certainly cost more than both of those, but if it can deliver what is being teased, it stands a chance.

That would be a 6.78in 1.5K AMOLED display, coupled with a 120Hz refresh rate. That’s about par for the mid-range course these days, as is the choice of SoC: Snapdragon 4 Gen 5. There’s no pretending that isn’t a little underwhelming, especially in 2026, but it’ll suffice for most. Again, that’s only if Oppo gets the price right.
Unfortunately, the leak didn’t give us any indication of how the smartphone might look. We can take a guess, though — like every other Oppo ‘A’ series that’s passed through here. It’s more of the same where the cameras are concerned. Oppo’s opted for the mid-range special — a 50MP main shooter, accompanied by a 2MP depth one. The front seems a little more capable, sporting a 50MP selfie camera.
