Good news for the well-heeled: Bang & Olufsen, the luxury Danish audio brand, recently announced “new digital experience multibrand retail spaces” at Fourways Crossing and Expert diamond corner in Woodmead. This follows the opening of its flagship experience centre in Kramerville earlier this year.
Chance to go hands-on
This won’t mean much to you if you don’t live in Gauteng, but if you do, the expansion provides further opportunity to experience the company’s products. With its cheapest device, the Beosound Explore, costing R7,000, it makes sense that you’d want to see, feel, and, importantly, hear what you might spend all that money on before you cough it up. Luckily for the brand, the seeing and feeling and hearing is one of its strong suits.
“The new multibrand retail spaces have been designed to showcase Bang & Olufsen’s signature blend of artistry, Scandinavian design, and smart home integration within curated digital experience settings,” the company said.
We’ve had a few of the brand’s products in for review, namely the picnic-basket-looking Beosound A5 and the premium H100 wireless ANC headphones. Those go for R39,000 and R43,000, respectively, which makes outright recommendations tough to justify for most folks. If you’re looking for the most bang (heh) for your buck, this probably isn’t the brand for you. But if you want premium design, attention to detail, decent audio, and a device that will last years, then you’re on the right track.
The company says visitors in its new ‘pop-up’ spaces “will have the opportunity to experience some of Bang & Olufsen’s most celebrated products, including the Beoplay collection, multiroom audio solutions, and the brand’s renowned home entertainment systems, all within a hands-on environment designed to demonstrate the power of sound, design, and innovation working together.”
The trip could be worth it even if you have no intention of making a purchase. If you’re at all interested in audio, go have a listen to the traffic-cone-shaped Beosound A2 3rd Gen. A speaker shaped like that should not sound as good as it does, yet…
