If you thought Spotify selling printed books or a hybrid urn-speaker was the strangest thing you’d see the music streamer do… you’d still be right. Spotify’s latest addition of Peloton’s fitness-centric content to the app seems a good fit for the brand, even if it does rely on the company’s wholly unusual introduction of video-first content.

That means Spotify users can skip overpaid personal trainers and take advantage of the 1,400+ on-demand classes the app currently offers. You can find these on the app by simply searching for ‘Fitness’ and clicking. Unfortunately, without a R180/m Premium Platinum subscription, you’ll be forced to watch them from afar. On somebody else’s phone. Assuming they have the necessary subscription tier.
Even if Peloton’s hardware isn’t technically available in South Africa, Spotify makes it clear these classes can be completed from just about anywhere, and without the Peloton-branded track bike. A regular one will do just fine if the class calls for it.
“The catalog includes everything from outdoor runs to structured mat-class options across strength, cardio, yoga, and meditation from fan-favorite instructors like Rebecca Kennedy, Ally Love, and Rad Lopez—no specialized equipment required.
Not every class requires a screen to get the point across, either. Spotify mentions users can hop from device to device when the class — or user — calls for it. Picking a guided run just means throwing on a headset and stepping out into nature. Something a little more complicated, however, might warrant the big screen.
Most of the 1,400+ classes are only offered in English, though select courses are streamable in Spanish and German. The company doesn’t say whether it’ll expand those languages before long, but we imagine it’s working on it. For those with access already, Peloton’s classes can be downloaded to your device for easier listening.
