Samsung’s bringing more than just TVs to CES 2026. Also appearing, according to reports from South Korea, are new fridges in the Bespoke AI lineup. This new version is said to be a premium appliance, and the first in the range to feature Google’s Gemini AI.
This might make the fridge more attractive to a certain sort of buyer. Previously, Samsung’s own Bixby handled AI duties, though why you’d want them in a fridge at all is a little less clear.
Want some Bespoke AI?
Gemini will have some utility, however. Broader item recognition, helped along by Google’s vast stores of image data, means the fridge will have a better idea what’s inside it (and what is supposed to be there but isn’t). Gemini will provide recipe assistance and help to make grocery lists.
The tech is also supposed to appear in Samsung’s wine refrigerators, where it’ll read labels and keep track of what vino is currently hosted inside.
Samsung’s digital appliances head Moon Jong-seung reportedly said, “Advanced AI vision enabled through collaboration with Google will help Samsung offer a distinctive food experience.”
Samsung’s Bespoke AI fridges (featuring Bixby) are already available in South Africa, starting at R30,000. Based on that, it’s likely that Samsung’s CES 2026 crop will also hit retail in this country at some point. Exactly when that will be should be clearer once the Las Vegas conference rolls around in early January.
