If you’re afraid of going full weeb at full price, then you’ll want to listen up. Crunchyroll, the anime streaming service of choice, is celebrating the holidays by slashing the price of its annual subscriptions from now until 29 December. If you’ve yet to watch the masterpiece that is Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, this is the way to do it.
Crunchyroll? Nani?
The two Crunchyroll genders are ‘Fan’ and ‘Mega Fan’, which can be snagged for R325/y and R410/y respectively until 29 December 2025. It’s a far better deal than the monthly sub, anyway, which does at least offer a 7-day free trial to newbies, so it may be worth testing the service out for a week before committing to a full year.
Both tiers offer ad-free anime-watching, as well as full access to the complete Crunchyroll library. The regular ‘Fan’ tier also promises “new episodes shortly after airing in Japan,” while the Meta Fan tier also offers access to 4 simultaneous streams, HD downloads, and the Crunchyroll Game Vault.
But for the library you’re getting hold of at this price, it’s difficult to complain. It doesn’t have everything we’ve ever searched for (notably, Naruto), but the rest of the library is stacked. Seriously, check out Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End when you can steal a few moments away from the Christmas hubbub. It’s worth it.
