The mid-range train doesn’t stop in South Africa. Oppo has unveiled the Oppo A6 Pro 5G, targeting folks looking for a smartphone around the R11,000 mark. The A6 Pro brings with it a 6,500mAh battery, as well as faster charging than most of the big flagships.
A mid-range Pro
“South Africans lead dynamic lives and their smartphones should do the same,” said Bradley Young, head of retail at Oppo SA. “With the A6 Pro 5G, we are delivering a device that lasts longer, performs better and inspires confidence in every moment. It is designed for people who want a phone that works as hard as they do.”
Up top sits a 6.57in 120Hz AMOLED (1,080 x 2,372) display that can hit 1,400 nits peak brightness. A Dimensity 6300 SoC, 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM, and 256GB of storage lie below. Oppo promises that the device is more than up to code with its “high-strength” aluminium alloy frame, IP69 rating, and AGC DT Star D Plus Crystal Shield Glass. And if the name wasn’t enough of a giveaway, the A6 Pro 5G features, well, 5G connectivity.

While those aren’t the most exciting specs possible, the 6,500mAh battery is really what stands out here. We’re keen to see whether it can live up to Oppo’s boastful claims — but with 80W wired charging to lend a hand, it might not matter if it can’t.
On the rear lies a dual-camera setup, with a 50MP shooter leading the charge, and a 2MP monochrome sensor to back it up. A 16MP front-facing camera handles the selfies.
The device, which Oppo says has officially arrived in South Africa, will sell for R11,000 nationwide, and can be picked up in Lunar Titanium, Stellar Blue, and Coral Pink.
