Oppo is set to unveil its Find X9 and Find X9 Pro smartphones later this month at an event in Barcelona, Spain. The devices aren’t brand new, having already launched in China, but they’ll be travelling globally at the upcoming 28 October event.
Of course, ‘global’ doesn’t always mean global. There’s no sign yet whether South Africa is on the list of launch countries, but there’s always the chance that we’ll have a chance at something new from the Chinese brand. After all, the Find N2 Flip made it this side of the world. Perhaps we’ll find a new Find at local retail before year’s end.
Find X9, quickly!
Since Oppo’s newest Finds are out in the wild already, it means we’re not stuck waiting for details. The standard X9 features a 6.59in 120Hz AMOLED display with up to 3,500 nits of peak brightness, a Dimensity 9500 chipset, and between 12GB (with 256GB or 512GB of storage) and 16GB (with 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of storage) of RAM. It’s not a top-end Snapdragon, but it’ll do.
The Find X9 features three 50MP camera sensors at the rear and a 32MP version up front. The main rear sensor includes optical image stabilisation, as does the 3x optical zoom periscope telephoto. The ultrawide grabs images over a 120° field of view.
The Find X9 Pro has many specs in common with its smaller (and cheaper) brother, sharing screen features, CPU, and RAM/storage configurations. Even the cameras are much the same, with the exception of a 200MP periscope telephoto and a 50MP selfie camera. The display is, obviously, larger at 6.78in. Both models feature monster batteries — the X9 has a 7,025mAh power pack and the X9 Pro goes up to 7,500mAh. Both feature 80W wired and 50W wireless charging, as well as IP68/IP69 waterproof/dust ratings.
As for pricing and availability? We’ll see that info turn up on 28 October, unless someone lets something slip ahead of time.
