Last year, Google made its Workspace productivity software free for everyone. At the same time, it launched Workspace Individual, an upgraded version of the suite designed to tempt you into giving the company money. Well, Workspace Individual is now a little more tempting.
A recent update from Google is bringing new features to Workspace Individual. Chief among these is more cloud storage, with no corresponding price increase. Individual accounts used to include 15GB of space — the same as a regular old Gmail account. That’s just been upped to a solid 1TB of online storage.

The point? The company reckons that growing businesses need all the storage they can get. Google also reckons that Drive lets users access their files “securely from any device”. It also doesn’t hurt that Workspace Individual clients won’t be looking elsewhere (like OneDrive or Dropbox) if they’ve got all this storage just sitting there. When the time comes to buy even more storage, the search giant plans to be the top contender.
The 15GB to 1TB upgrade is automatic for Individual subscribers. All you need to do is sit back and wait for it to hit your account — if you have one.
Workspace Individual is still a little regional, at least for now. Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand, the Netherlands, Portugal, Belgium, Finland, Greece, and Argentina were just given access. The UK, US, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Japan, and Australia already had access. So do France, Italy, Spain, Germany, and Switzerland. South Africa? We’re not on that list. Not yet, anyway.
