While the world outside of China waits for Oppo to get their hands on the latest mid-ranger that is the Reno 6, new leaks show off a device we haven’t seen before. What makes this leak interesting, however, is the fact that its design looks very similar to the current-gen Reno 5, but with a gaming-focused skin (and internals, we’re guessing).
Here’s the Oppo-rtunity
According to a report on 91mobiles, the smartphone manufacturer filed a EUIPO certification listing for a never-seen-before device that resembles other gaming-orientated devices like the Asus ROG Phone 5. Thing is, it just looks like a thicker, more angular Reno 5. And we’re here for it.
Judging by the bulk, the thickness and overall aesthetic, we can expect beefier internals on this one. While we can just guess what’s going on under the hood, however, the outside presents most of the same features on the Reno 5 — like the rectangular camera module in the top left corner of the back panel with four camera sensors and a flash, the power button on the right edge, and a volume rocker on the left.
The only minor detail we can pick up here is that the display doesn’t feature the hole-punch camera found on the basic model. That could indicate a larger, speedier gaming display. The overall thickness of the device also points to that being true, so let’s keep our fingers crossed.
Oppo will most likely reveal more details about the rumoured device closer to the international launch of the Reno 6, which hasn’t been confirmed for countries outside of China yet.
