Oppo is rumoured to have a wider smartphone coming to market. Called the Reno X (according to those rumours), the phone will mimic design changes seen in both Samsung’s and Huawei’s phones. That means less height and more width to play with.
A fresh leak from an X account claims to have the screen specs, at the very least. The upcoming device will feature a 6.35in panel with a 16:9 or 16:10 aspect ratio. It’ll also have the modern stalwart — a 120Hz refresh rate. Other details about the phone are also alluded to.
Reno X Wider
According to @Gadgetsdata, the phone’s processor is an unspecified MediaTek Dimensity 9000 model. The camera loadout is also given, and it’s impressive. On paper. Oppo is expected to field a 200MP main sensor with optical image stabilisation, a 50MP ultrawide, and a 200MP periscope telephoto. Along with the wider screen, the Reno X could be something quite different from the brand.
The details line up with a leak last week from Digital Chat Station out of China. The given specs are new, but the 16:9 aspect ratio is repeated here. The phone could be 81mm wide, with “an ultra-narrow four-sided equal-sided design, with an estimated bezel of 1mm±.” Last week’s information claimed that the wide-screen Oppo was a prototype rather than something headed for retail. It’s not clear whether the Reno X is ready for an announcement.
The oldest rumour about the Oppo Reno X dates back to August this year. That’s not really an indicator of how close something is to production if the company behind it can’t keep a secret. Right now, only Huawei has a wider smartphone available. Others are bound to follow. Oppo’s attempt could be the next in line.
