It’s Gamescom all over again, but if you can’t make it to the showroom floor in Germany, Opening Night Live (ONL) is where you want to be. The show will be hosted by The Game Awards’ Geoff Keighley and is usually home to one or two big reveals, historically speaking. It’s taking place tonight, so adjust your plans accordingly.
We got Opening Night Live before GTA 6
Gamescom Opening Night Live is a mere snack, meant to hold you over ’til the main course — Rockstar Games’ extended look at Grand Theft Auto VI, taking place on Thursday, 27 August. That doesn’t mean it won’t still hit the spot. The Witcher 3, Metro 2039, Gears of War, and a few others are all confirmed to be shown off tonight.
You’ll want to be huddled around your choice of device by 20h00 tonight (SAST), 25 August. If you’ve got a little time to kill beforehand, you can tune in at 19h30 for a dedicated pre-show hosted by Kyle Bosman. According to Keighley, the show will be worth watching for “additional world premieres and multiple game announcements.”

As usual, you can head over to Gamescom’s official YouTube channel to catch the Opening Night Live show. The company’s Twitch channel will also stream the event. Easily the most looked-forward-to reveal is The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s upcoming Songs of the Past DLC. It’s not often you see a twelve-year-old single-player game demanding this sort of respect, but CD Projekt Red has earned it. Expect to see trailers and reveals for Metro 2039, Final Fantasy VII Revelation, Silent Hill: Townfall, Tides of Annihilation, EXODUS, Gears of War: E-Day, and plenty of others.
