Fans have eagerly awaited another look at Grand Theft Auto VI ever since Rockstar Games opened the game up to pre-orders. We’re still not overly thrilled about the R1,500 starting price, however. We’ll soon find out whether it’s worth the hefty chunk of dough. Rockstar Games just announced an “extended look” coming on 27 August.

Is it just us, or is the theme already a classic?
There’s just one catch. The trailer — or whatever it is — will premiere first on Netflix on Thursday, 27 August at 21h00 SAST. If you’re without a Netflix subscription, you’ll have to watch the trailer with the rest of the brokies the following day at 03h00 SAST. That’s when it’ll drop for free on YouTube and the GTA VI website.
Why the change of scenery? Your guess is as good as ours. We can only assume Netflix handed Rockstar Games a comically large bag of money with one of those large dollar signs on it to secure six hours of exclusivity. Whether the gamble will actually result in paying subscriptions for the streamer is still unknown. It’s worth a shot, anyway.
Grand Theft Auto VI is still on track to hit PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on 19 November 2026. What’ll be shown off is still under wraps (hence the whole trailer for a trailer thing), but we’re betting it’ll be bigger than anything we’re expecting. It seems almost guaranteed that we’ll finally get a look at some real gameplay.
