Petrol prices are finally settling back to what you might call ‘normal’ for 2026. The CEF predicts that, once again, motorists will see a sizeable reduction in the price of petrol and diesel when August rolls ’round. But if you’re loyal to TotalEnergies, the company will reward you with 45c cashback for every litre you buy, starting 1 July.
There is a catch or two, because there’s always a catch or two. Nothing overtly onerous, though. The first step is the easiest. Simply sign up to become a TotalEnergies Club member. Members are already entitled to earn 15c/l cashback for every litre they fill. Even in-store purchases or a quick car wash are enough to earn 2.5% back.
The horse’s name was Friday
But if you want to take TotalEnergies for all they’re worth (petrol is mightily expensive), you’ll need to confine all your fuel-filling to Friday. Only then will the company cough up the big bucks. That’s it. If that’s already too much work, then you’re probably unbothered by the coming adjustments. Or you don’t have a car.
“We are seeing customers becoming more intentional on how and when they spend money, and fuel is one of those unavoidable expenses. That’s why we believe in helping members receive more value from the regular tasks, like buying fuel,” says Mduduzi Sikhakhane, marketing manager at TE.
Signing up to the TotalEnergies Club is free, though you’ll have to hand over some personal information first. Once you’re in, you can convert your points into a digital cashback voucher, which can be spent on fuel, car washes, Bonjour stores, Quartz Lubricant, and even airtime or data. You can’t spend it elsewhere, unfortunately.
The company launched the new reward bonus on 1 July 2026, though it offered no indication when it might go away. With the price of fuel continuing to dip, we can’t see the company keeping it around for too much longer. Enough time to let people know that the TotalEnergies Club exists, anyway.
