It might not be the first monitor capable of 1,000Hz, but LG’s latest UltraGear gaming monitor claims to be the first in the world to do it at its native Full HD resolution. It makes sense then that it’s aimed squarely at competitive gamers, specifically those who play fast-paced first-person shooter titles, like Counter-Strike 2 or Valorant.
Other manufacturers have already launched monitors capable of reaching a refresh rate of 1,000Hz or more. But those are usually dual-mode monitors that require you to drop the screen size or resolution substantially. The 24.5in IPS LG UltraGear 25G590B can operate at 1,000Hz at its native Full HD (1,920 x 1,080px) resolution.

Elsewhere, the monitor’s base looks to be on the small side, meaning it won’t take up much space on your desk. But it also gives the monitor a slightly top-heavy look. Hopefully it’s balanced correctly. If you needed any more evidence that this one is geared towards pros, the stand also features ‘calibration indicators’ so you can dial in and set your preferred height, swivel and tilt settings, then replicate them with ease when you’re away from home.
LG could’ve left it there and would’ve still had a suitably pro-level display on its hands. But it’s 2026, so of course it needs AI. In this case, the “on-device gaming AI features” are meant to “boost both immersion and usability”. Hopefully, they will also come with an ‘off’ toggle.
“AI Scene Optimization adds visual realism and depth by intelligently adjusting picture settings according to game genre, while AI Sound provides a more authentic spatial audio experience along with clearer in-game communications when used with compatible headsets.”
LG hasn’t announced pricing just yet, or said when the monitor will be available or where it will launch. We only have a “second half of 2026” timeframe and “select markets” and “additional markets to follow” to go on.
