With how much love and attention apps like Checkers Sixty60 and Woolies Dash get these days, it now seems inevitable that OneCart would be sent to the grave. Not even the cynical bunch of realists at Stuff foresaw the service’s fate. OneCart will officially shut down on Sunday, 17 May, whether your money’s in there or not.
OneCart no longer
That means you’ll want to withdraw every single cent stored in your OneCart account before that date. Massmart-owned OneCart said as much in its initial announcement of the shutdown, which was emailed to users on 30 April 2026. Only seventeen days’ warning is certainly rough, but at least you’ll get what’s owed to you first.
“…We would like to inform you that following an internal strategic redirection, we have made the decision to terminate this service, effective 17 May 2026, in order to focus on further expanding our business-to-business proposition,” the email reads (via Hypertext). “If you currently have a positive wallet balance on your profile, we encourage you to withdraw the funds to your bank,” it added.
Until then, you can continue using the service as normal, judging by the website’s willingness to take our money. There is at least a large banner at the top of the screen warning customers to get out while they can. Clicking it will (hopefully) start the process of withdrawing those funds, however much they may be. Fail to comply, and it “may result in the forfeiture of any remaining balance.” It would be, uh, preferable not to do that.
It’s certainly a choice to send OneCart on a trip to Belize without so much as a ‘have a safe trip’. Perhaps Massmart is too busy paying attention to Walmart and its own delivery app to care. Either way, OneCart is dead, but you needn’t let your bank account suffer the same fate, too.
