Sub-R10,000 laptops are a serious pain to find in 2026. Acer will attempt to hit that price point with its new e10 ETBook range, now launching in South Africa. We say ‘attempt’ based on previous releases in the series, as the current lot doesn’t seem to be at retail outlets yet.
When they get there, though, you’ll have a choice between the ETBook 15.6in — which features AMD Ryzen processor options — and the ETBook 14in, which sports an Intel Core i3 chipset.
e10 ETBook (a flight home)
Acer‘s new e10 ETBook models are supposed to address “the evolving demands of South Africa’s small business and education sectors.” This is marketing speak for making the hardware as affordable as possible while still retaining something that looks like performance.
This means a Core i3 10100Y in the 14in ETBook, which powers a 2K 3:2 display. That should be a 2,160 x 1,440 resolution, but Acer, for whatever reason, is being a little cagey with its details. The 15.6in ETBook models are divided into AMD Ryzen 3 or Ryzen 5 models. The exact processors are similarly mysterious, but they’ll be stuffed into a 1.61kg, 18.1mm chassis.
Normally, we’d head out and find the missing info for you, but we’ve been unable to locate the new Acers on sale so far. One listing in the Maldives (via Instagram) reckons that the 14in Acer Gadget e10 ETBook ships with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. That… sounds about right, but we’ll keep an eye out for local pricing and listings. Just to be sure.
