Tyme Bank has implemented all sorts of tech-related features since its launch. Now? It’s GoTyme. Literally. The online, branchless bank has rebranded itself to GoTyme Bank, though its initial identity will hang on for a while, sharing dual billing with the new branding. You know, until folks get the idea.
Part of the change will include an updated (and suitably branded) app experience for users, but, in corporate speak, the rebrand more “clearly expresses the bank’s global alignment and focus on delivering a modern, digital-first banking experience that is simple, transparent, and affordable.”
It’s… GoTyme
Some of the bank‘s existing users are already aware of the new, updated app, as it was phased in in batches since 22 January this year. This migration was “managed deliberately to prioritise security, stability, and customer experience.”
Changes to the banking app — which is where basically all interactions happen, unless you’re using one of the company’s kiosks — include “a cleaner and more modern design, improved performance, stronger security features, and a more intuitive way for customers to save, spend, send money, and manage their finances.”
Company CEO Cheslyn Jacobs said, “GoTyme Bank reflects who we are today and where we are going next. This is not a change to our fundamentals. It is the same South African bank, now expressed through a brand and platform that better reflects our scale, technology, and ambition.”
The app update will continue over the next few weeks, with user feedback being accounted for as this happens. The online-only bank also promises further updates to user experience, security, and customer service as all of this takes place.
Hopefully, the bank has given whoever came up with the new branding an increase or a bonus. GoTyme is such an inspired choice for any brand that we’re surprised the folks at Red Bull didn’t nab it first.
