Casio’s wristwear has always been up for a good partnership or two, meaning that the brand’s upcoming Stranger Things crossover isn’t much of a surprise. Branded versions of the company’s G-Shock DW-5600STT-1 and Vintage AQ-800EST-1A wristwatches are bound for countries outside of Japan.
Is South Africa on the list? Perhaps, as both the brand DW-5600STT and AQ-800EST models are listed on Casio’s South African website. Whether you’ll be able to buy them is another matter, but since the availability date is given as December 2025, it may take a while to confirm.
Casio turn it up to Eleven
As is typical with the wristwatch brand’s partnerships, most of what you’ll find in this Stranger Things crossover is visual. The G-Shock gets a murky red-and-black display, with deep red LED visuals on the face when things are dark. A rear engraving featuring the Stranger Things logo lives under the casing, Eleven’s number lives on the band’s loop, and the whole unit’s box is also suitably (and gloomily) themed.
The Casio Vintage AQ-800EST-1A could be the one to get if you’re a Stranger Things fan. The casing’s combination digital/analogue design feels more era-specific, with a suitably Upside Down rear panel behind the watch’s hands bringing a little of the show’s flavour to the fore. The engraving on the rear panel is present, though the metal band’s number engraving is for 001. Eleven isn’t represented on this one, as far as we can see.
As with the G-Shock, launch times are given for December this year, with pricing a mystery so far. Overseas, the Vintage retails for R2,900(ish), and the Stranger Things G-Shock for R3,000. If the prices carry over here, a purchase probably wouldn’t be the strangest thing to consider.
