Earlier this year, Pebble founder Eric Migicovsky announced the possible return of Pebble watches following Google’s making PebbleOS open-source. Fast forward a few months, to now, as the Pebble 2 Duo (short for ‘do-over’) enters mass production.
Migicovsky announced back in March that he and his small team would be reviving the Pebble 2 Duo, called the Core 2 Duo at the time. Since then, they’ve managed to recover the trademark for Pebble, iron out the last major circuit board issue, and test their fulfilment system.
It’s Pebble 2 Duo time

Migicovsky warns that there may still be delays, but if you were among the first to pre-order, you should receive your new Pebble 2 Duo sometime this month (if you don’t have it already).
You might also be faced with a slight price increase at checkout if you live in the US (one guess as to why). US orders are subjected to an $8.42 (~R147) tariff charge. For South Africans wanting to order a Pebble, shipping fees appear to be a flat $25 (~R437), which supposedly already includes tariffs and import duties.

As for a shipping timeline, the first 300-500 pre-orders should start shipping ‘mid-September’, while there will be a larger 2nd batch towards the end of the month and a final batch in October. If you missed out on securing your Pebble in the first round of batches, Migicovsky has said (on more than one occasion) that he wants to make these stick around for the long term. There will likely be more to come.
