Local really is lekker. It’s always great to see South African companies take that sentiment and stretch it to its absolute fullest limits, as Reama AI, a Cape Town-based startup, has done. The local company, which develops “artificial intelligence solutions that transform how renewable energy assets are developed, monitored, maintained, and optimised,” has just snagged itself the EUPD Research Top Innovation award.
Reama AI comes out on top
Reama AI was recognised in the AI solutions category for its ‘intelligent Document Management solution for asset-intensive workflows’ at the Smarter E awards show held in Munich, where a panel of judges and the Sustainable Installer Committee dished out the award to the local company. The panel cited Reama’s impact on the local renewable energy sector as the reason for Reama taking home the trophy.
The local startup offers a few different AI-powered products, but it’s the company’s core offering, something it calls AssetLayer, that EUPD is particularly interested in. The company describes AssetLayer as an “advanced document intelligence platform” that allows teams to automatically track their assets by categorising and tagging the necessary documents throughout their life cycle.
The idea is to help teams cut down time when filing important documents, while also ensuring they’re following the standards required automatically. According to Reama’s website, Assetlayer has supposedly cut down this time by about 68%, reduced errors by 91%, and achieved a 94% compliance score across its portfolio.
