Star Wars is responsible for the most visually recognisable villain in movie fiction, so it’s understandable why the original Sith Lord is still everywhere. Soon, Darth Vader could take up space on your desk, doing what he was always meant to: guarding your AirPods.
You’ll have to be quick, though. The folks from Casetify, looking to capitalise on upcoming May the Fourth social media posts, have announced a new set of limited edition branded gear surrounding Star Wars, with the standout being… well, Anakin Skywalker’s head.
The AirPods stand you’re looking for
Big deal, right? It’s a bit of plastic, not dissimilar from those Cable Guys game controller holders, isn’t it? Actually… not quite. Yes, it’s a plastic bust of Darth Vader with a space to stash an AirPods case based on the villain’s chestpiece, but it’s got one other function you won’t get from a 3D-printed replica — audio. Casetify says the item arrives “complete with authentic breathing sound effects”.

If that doesn’t make you want to click ‘buy’, you may be so dead inside that not even molten lava can stop you. Otherwise, the accessories maker has other items themed around the Rebel Alliance, C3PO, R2D2, the Star Wars opening scroll, and even more Darth to choose from. Phone covers, (less ostentatious) AirPods covers, smartwatch bands, smartwatch chargers, plus others are set to be launched this May the Fourth.
The original report for these products (on Engadget) says that all items are currently available, but we weren’t able to find the Dark Side on Casetify’s Co-Lab page at the time of writing. It may appear later (here’s a direct link), or the items could turn up on the brand’s Amazon storefront with the rest of the Star Wars-themed items. Either way, both have options for shipping to South Africa.
