Oppo’s upcoming Find N5 foldable is barely thicker than its USB-C charging port when unfolded. The Chinese smartphone maker claims it’ll be the thinnest foldable in the world once available.
The company has been drip-feeding details of the Find N5 on Chinese social media platform Weibo over the past week. Product manager for the Find series, Zhao Yibao, demonstrated the Find N5’s thickness by comparing it to everyday items like two Yuan coins, a stack of four credit cards, and 39 sticky notes.
One picture (below) compares the device to an iPhone 16 Pro Max and it looks to be almost half as thick. Zhao has also shared pictures showing the device’s size, highlighting that the only limit to making the device thinner is the USB-C charging port.
Oppo spreads its phone thin

Oppo claims that this new device is the thinnest foldable yet. That title currently belongs to the Honor Magic V3, which stands at 4.35mm thick when opened. From that, we can infer that the Find N5 is somewhere around 4mm. With the iPhone 16 Pro Max being 8.25mm thick, the Find N5 looking about half its size seems to check out. For reference, a USB-C port is about 2.6mm thick.
Zhou also claims that the device is IPX9-rated. The ‘X’ means it has no official dust protection rating, but the ‘9’ means it can withstand high-temperature, high-pressure jets of water. For submersion, the rating goes down to IPX8, and IPX6 for low-temperature jets.
The Find N5’s predecessor, the Find N3 launched as the OnePlus Open when it crossed over to the West. Many speculate that this new device will be known as the OnePlus Open 2 when it lands in the US. We haven’t had any official OnePlus devices in South Africa yet so it will likely retain the Oppo branding if it arrives here as it did with the Oppo Find N2 Flip that landed in SA in 2023.
