The Insta360 Flow Pro 2 might sound like you’re trying to refer to a completely different product without saying the name but it’s a product all on its own. Except for its competitors. But this one’s newer, so that’s okay.
The sequel to the original Flow Pro is back in 2025 and it’s got every CEO’s favourite buzzword in tow. That’s right, the smartphone gimbal is carrying AI into battle. It’s also compact, solidly built, and ready to turn your smartphone camera into something Spielberg once needed budget meetings to acquire.
Flow Pro 2: Flow harder
Okay, it’s perhaps not ready to shoot Jurassic Park but Insta360’s camera setup is intended to function with almost every app you could need a camera for. It’s still intended for folks who are definitely going to break through and start making money with their social media but those who terminally document everything they do should also be well served.
The Flow Pro 2 has a more durable build than its predecessor while retaining its pocketability. The built-in tripod has been reinforced, and Insta360 has built a selfie mirror into the handle for those self-shot videos. We’re not sure of the intended utility but you should have a better idea of what you look like on the phone’s screen when checking out your face in the little silver circle.
Tracking of multiple objects, three-axis stabilisation, the ability to pan 360° without having to go the other way, and an option called Free Tilt Mode — a user-customised angle for unique shots — round out the hardware’s features. It supports around 200 apps (on iOS), so you can have stabilised video no matter what you do.
The Insta360 Flow Pro 2 is already on sale in the US and UK and we expect to see it here in relatively short order. It retails overseas for about R3,500. Whether we’ll get similar pricing here remains to be seen but we suspect it’ll be a little more costly.
