Amazon’s home-brewed anthology series Secret Level debuted in December 2024, to somewhat muted applause that we’re sure had nothing to do with the Concord-themed episode shoved in. Despite a lack of anything new to promote, our retail overlords have graced us with yet another round of free games for January – available to anyone with a Prime subscription, although a Prime Video subscription works just as well.
Everybody’s Gone to the City of Rapture
Considering the lack of any Prime membership in South Africa yet, a Prime Video subscription will have to do if you hope to claim the games from South Africa. Fortunately, it’s one of the cheaper streamers at R80/m, and one of the few to include free games in the offing. Sure, there’s Netflix’s catalogue of mobile games, but those are as fickle as the streamer’s selection of films and series.
See, while an active Prime Video subscription is required to claim the titles on offer, they’re yours to keep forever from that point on – even if your Prime Video membership should lapse in the future. Claiming them is as easy as visiting the Prime Gaming website, signing into your Amazon account, and keeping that finger trained on the Ctrl + C buttons. You’re going to need them.
You’ll also want to go ahead and sign into Good Old Games (GOG) and the Epic Games Store to speed the process up. This month, BioShock 2 Remastered and Deus Ex GOTY Edition lead the January line-up, alongside fourteen other games that will sit and gather digital dust in your library. Still, they might just come in handy (after you’ve beaten BioShock 2, of course). Those are:
- BioShock 2 Remastered – GOG – available now
- SkyDrift Infinity – Epic Games Store – available now
- Eastern Exorcist – Epic Games Store – available now
- The Bridge – Epic Games Store – available now
- Spirit Mancer – Amazon Games – available now
- GRIP – GOG – available 16 January
- SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech – GOG – available 16 January
- Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader – Epic Games Store – available 16 January
- Deus Ex GOTY Edition – GOG – available 23 January
- To the Rescue! – Epic Games Store – available 23 January
- Star Stuff – Epic Games Store – available 23 January
- Spitlings – Amazon Games – available 23 January
- Zombie Army 4: Dead War – Epic Games Store – available 23 January
- ENDER LILIES: Quietus of the Knights – Epic Games Store – available 30 January
- Blood West – GOG – available 30 January
- Super Meat Boy Forever – Epic Games Store – available 30 January
If any of those piqued your interest, you’ll want to head here, sign into your Prime Video account, and start claiming. Some games will offer you a GOG code, which you’ll need to copy and bring to Good Old Games to redeem. Others, like Eastern Exorcist, require you to link your Epic Games account to Prime before they can be claimed, though no codes need to be copied. The rest? They’ll automatically be added to your Amazon Games library after clicking “Get game”.
