The Asus Vivobook S 14 is the latest addition to the tech company’s Vivobook range. It’s slim and lightweight, packs decent processing power with its Intel Core Ultra 7 Series 2 chipset, and features a decent screen backed by its Lumina software.
Sussing out the Vivobook S 14
Generally, the most useful thing a university student needs from a laptop is lightweight portability (some of us learned the hard way). The Vivobook S 14 weighs a cool 1.3kg and is about 1.39cm thick, good for any young student or professional who needs a capable machine but is always on the move. The metal chassis is preferable to plastic, and we hope it has the durability to match.
Asus‘s Vivobook S displays are equipped with Lumina OLED tech, which supposedly has 70% less harmful blue light and more accurate colour rendering. Vivobook S 14 owners can experience movies and games with its 14in 120Hz display. Slim bezels maximise the notebook’s compact size.
The Vivobook S 14 is powered by a 75Whr battery that Asus says offers up to 27 hours of charge. The entire Vivobook S range has fast charging and is supposedly capable of reaching 60% in just 49 minutes, so at least it’s got your back if you need some juice in a jiffy.
This laptop runs on the Intel Core Ultra 7 with integrated Intel Arc graphics and a neural processing unit (NPU). AI enthusiasts may enjoy whatever AI software knick-knacks it enables. There’s even a dedicated Microsoft Copilot button (we wonder how much Bill shelled out for that). Buyers also get from 16GB up to 32GB of RAM and though it has rapid SSD storage, you’d hope for a bit more than 1TB for a R25,000 laptop in 2024.
