Samsung’s rumoured smart glasses could be revealed as soon as January 2025

Samsung Smart Glasses

Provided the current geopolitical situation in South Korea behaves itself, we could see something brand new from the country’s most famous company. Samsung is reported to be working on yet another unusual wearable product that we probably won’t get here. In addition to its smart ring, the South Korean company is shortly expected to unveil a set of smart glasses.

When? According to a report out of Korea (Yonhap News), the company may unveil its new tech in January 2025. Before that happens, though, it will supposedly share details about the software that will drive the device sometime this month.

Smart, Samsung, smart

The smart glasses won’t make a physical appearance, however. They’ll appear as either an image or video at the unveiling of Samsung’s Galaxy S25 lineup early next year. If it follows the pattern established by the Galaxy Ring, the gadget will be revealed at the first Unpacked of 2025, it’ll be seen in the flesh at Mobile World Congress, and it will launch to market in the second half of the year.

Even if the smart glasses (any bets on Samsung calling them Galaxy Glasses?) do follow this pattern, it’s unlikely that South Africa will see them at launch. The Galaxy Ring has yet to debut here and it may never do so, officially. The market for the product in SA may be too specialised to support a full rollout in this country.

Samsung and Google have reportedly been working on the software for these glasses and it’s this that might turn up first. Google famously launched its Glass product — helping the world coin the term ‘Glassholes’ at the same time — so it has some experience in this field. Whether Samsung’s involvement on the hardware end proves more popular remains to be seen.
