Samsung’s AI-boasting Galaxy Tab S10 is one member short, arrives 15 October

While Apple is still muddling around with Apple Intelligence in a lab somewhere, Samsung’s sticking Galaxy AI into anything and everything. It made that quite clear with the debut of the S24 at the beginning of the year and doubled down on the strategy with the recent release of the S24 FE.

And now, Galaxy AI is targeting your tablets, too. At least, Samsung is hoping you’ll buy its tablets once it puts the new Galaxy Tab S10 range on shelves. If you weren’t aware, that covers the Galaxy Tab S10+ and the Tab S10 Ultra. Keen-eyed readers might notice we’re one member short – the base Tab S10. About that…

Snapdragon is out, Dimensity is in

Samsung has, for the first time, nixed the entire base model of the range, leaving only the 12.4- and 14.6in Plus and Ultra models for us to play around with. It’s also the first time the Tab range will dip its toes into the MediaTek Dimensity arena and leave the ol’ faithful Snapdragon processors behind. Specifically, the S10 line-up adopts the 4nm Dimensity 9300 chipset, complete with an ARM Immortalis-G720 GPU.

Samsung reckons that change should net you about 18% in speed boosts to the CPU, a 28% increase in the GPU, and 14% upgrades where the NPU (neural processing unit) is concerned, allowing you to take advantage of all the AI stuff Samsung is hoping will stick. That means Circle to Search, live translation and all the image-generating and editing tech you’ll ever need.

You’re still dealing with 12GB of RAM and 256GB storage – though you can bump that up to 1.5TB if you’ve got the right MicroSD card handy. Residing somewhere nearby is the Tab S10+’s 10,090mAh battery, or the Ultra’s slightly more impressive 11,200mAh battery – made all the better with the addition of 45W charging, returning from last year’s tablets.

Arguably the most important for premium tablets like these – the display – has been left untouched this year. Samsung is obviously more than happy to ply customers with the same 14.6in and 12.4in AMOLED X2 displays on the Ultra and Plus models, respectively. Both will hit a 120Hz refresh rate and include HDR10+ support.

While the States get to play with the Galaxy Tab S10 line-up as soon as Thursday, 3 October, South Africa will need to wait until 15 October for a crack at the two colourways headed our way: Moonstone Grey and Platinum Silver. Pricing, unfortunately, is still under wraps. Expect more news on that front shortly.
