Fans of Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham video game series probably thought they finally had something to look forward to with the recent announcement of Batman: Arkham Shadow. Until they saw it would be a VR-exclusive title for the Meta Quest 3. Now they know how Diablo fans feel.
Unlike the last Batman VR game, Batman: Arkham VR, Arkham Shadow isn’t being developed by Rocksteady, although it will still be set in the same universe.
Oculus Studios-owned Camouflaj is handling development and says it has been “[c]ollaborating closely with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC” with the hopes to “deliver an authentic new entry in the celebrated Arkham franchise.” We’ll have to wait and see how that goes.
There’s a new Batman in town
Available details of the new game are still light. The brief announcement trailer did mention a “Late 2024” release window but these days that’s always subject to change. Fans will have to wait until Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest showcase on 7 June to learn more about the new game and see some actual gameplay footage.

There hasn’t been a ‘proper’ Batman game for nearly ten years — unless you count Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, which we don’t — so Camouflaj have a tough hill to climb.
The other important but still unknown detail is which voice actor will be taking over the iconic role after regular Batman voice talent Kevin Conway passed away in 2022.
