MSI’s stealthy 16 Mercedes-AMG Motorsport A13V
MSI has partnered up with Mercedes AMG to produce a customised Stealth 16 Studio A13V laptop. It’s officially dubbed the Stealth 16 Mercedes-AMG Motorsport A13V, and it’s packing a 16in OLED display that’s targeting creatives, though we’re guessing it’ll be a dab hand at gaming too. It is an altered piece of MSI hardware, after all.
The customised Stealth 16 has made its way to South Africa, eventually, ending up on Evetech’s store for a whopping R70,000. Is it worth it? With its 13th-Gen Intel Core i9 Processor, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 GPU and 16in 4K 16:10 OLED panel, it just might be. It’s also rocking MSI’s Cooler Boost 5 System with five heat pipes.
It’ll fit in 64GB worth of DDR5 RAM, all covered in a magnesium-aluminium alloy chassis. It’s slathered in all sorts of MSI and Mercedes branding, for the motorheads to drool over. It’s topped off with a set of AMG-inspired peripherals like a mouse, mouse pad, USB hub, pouch and a set of cable ties to go with the laptop.
The Witcher 3 boardgame still isn’t real-life Gwent
A new board game, surrounding the world of The Witcher, has been announced by CD Projekt Red. Don’t get your hopes up – it’s not a real-life Gwent set. Until CD Projekt pulls itself together on that front, we’ll have to make do with the new board game, titled The Witcher: Path of Destiny. The developer is working with Go On Board to develop it, following some of the more iconic stories from Andrzej Sapkowski’s books.
You’ll fill the role of he Continent’s heroes – Geralt, Yennefer, Ciri, Vesemir (or Dandelion) – with only one of the five players being remembered as a hero by the game’s end. You won’t be able to pick up Path of Destiny just yet, with the game still needing to go through a crowdfunding stage over on Gamefound, launching on 9 October and ending on 7 November.
A core mechanic here is building out your deck, with each player’s involvement affecting how the story unfolds as it progresses. Players attempt to play their cards strategically and earn victory points based on the evolving storyline. Łukasz Woźniak is the game’s writer, also known for The Witcher: Old World, another project from the developer and Go On Board.
There are two editions you’ll be able to pledge to once the campaign begins in October. The standard edition includes everything needed to play, with the Deluxe edition including character figurines of its main characters and a few quality-of-life additions to keep things going smoothly. Pricing has yet to be revealed.
Spotify’s got a daylist update
Spotify’s got a new update – rolling out today (for some) – that’ll add something it calls a “daylist”. It’s a personalised playlist, one that’ll update and match your mood depending on the time of day, complete with a fresh title, theme and overall mood. It’ll live alongside Spotify’s usual personalised playlists like On Repeat or Time Capsule.
“This new, one-of-a-kind playlist on Spotify ebbs and flows with unique vibes, bringing together the niche music and microgenres you usually listen to during particular moments in the day or on specific days of the week. It updates frequently between sunup and sundown with a series of highly specific playlists made for every version of you. It’s hyper-personalized, dynamic, and playful as it reflects what you want to be listening to right now,” it said.
Spotify doesn’t go into specifics as to how often your daylist will update, only noting that it would update “multiple times a day”. You’ll be able to save specific daylists before they refresh too, but you’ll have to make the copy before it’s lost to the wind forever.
Unfortunately, daylist isn’t available in South Africa just yet, with no word on when that could change. It’s currently available to both Free and Premium users in the US, Canada, New Zealand, Ireland, Australia and the UK.
The Sims 5 is going free-to-play
Electronic Arts (EA) has confirmed at this year’s Behind The Sims Summit that The Sims 5, or rather “Project Rene” will be free-to-play, right from launch. This makes sense considering how well The Sims 4 did after going free-to-play last year. The only difference is that the new game won’t be quite as packed as its predecessor, with EA going down the Fortnite route and adding to the game as it goes, in the form of microtransactions and paid-for DLC.
The Sims 5 doesn’t have an official release date yet, with EA confirming that the game is still in very early development. If you’re worried about any The Sims 4 erasure once The Sims 5 releases… don’t. Lyndsay Pearson, VP of franchise creative for The Sims mentioned that the two games would be able to co-exist and that both would receive regular updates.
