Possibly the most requested WhatsApp feature is on the way. If WhatsApp is to be believed (it usually is), the multi-device feature added last year which allowed users to access their accounts from browsers, tablets, and computers is getting an expansion. This time, it’s expanding to extend the device list to support four other smartphones.
Multiply that by five
Setting up a second device is easy. Once updated, upon opening WhatsApp on a fresh device that isn’t your primary one, a new prompt will appear asking if you’d like to “link to existing account.” That’ll generate a QR code, which you then scan from your primary device – the same way accounts on tablets and browsers are added. And of course, this works for both Android and iOS devices.

To make matters better, even though the ‘original’ phone is considered the ‘primary’ device, it needn’t be powered on to still receive messages across any other devices. Should your primary device surpass fourteen days of inactivation, however, WhatsApp will automatically log out of your other devices. You know, for safety reasons.
The Meta-owned messenger has begun rolling out the update to some devices, though the full rollout will take a couple of weeks to be fully realised. If you keep auto-updates turned on, it might already be installed. If not, you’ll have to wait like the rest of us.
