Netflix recently announced the first official look at its next South African miniseries, Unseen.
The new locally produced series is from Gambit Films, the same production powerhouse responsible for the widely successful three-time SAFTA-winning drama Blood & Water. Viewers are in for another top-quality series if their last title is anything to go by. Looking at Unseen‘s cast list further confirms that.
Unseen features some of South Africa’s best talents both in front of and behind the camera. Travis Taute and Daryne Joshua, who both worked on Blood & Water, serve as showrunners with Taute also receiving directing credits here. Tristram Atkins, Meesha Aboo, and Sean Drummond comprise the writing team. Drummond received international acclaim for his debut feature film Five Fingers for Marseilles.
Don’t let this go Unseen
Gail Mabalane reunites with her Blood & Water colleagues and heads up the acting credits. She is joined by Vuyo Dabula, best known for Generations: The Legacy, Five Fingers for Marseilles, and recently Queen Sono. Brendon Daniels, Hein de Vries, and Ilse Klink are among the other featured acting talents.
This new six-part crime thriller follows the story of Zenzi Mwale, a seemingly innocuous domestic worker who goes in search of her missing husband. During her journey, she comes up against powerful and violent criminals but Zenzi proves she might not be as innocuous and timid as she first seemed.
