Here’s pretty much everything you need to know about Samsung’s Galaxy S23 Ultra

Galaxy S23 Ultra

There are leaks and then there are leaks. Samsung tends to dribble information in an almost controlled manner about its products but the Galaxy S23 Ultra isn’t getting that sort of gentle treatment. TENAA, China’s certification board, has outed every spec the upcoming smartphone will feature.

And we do mean every spec. Besides the phone’s appearance, which should look more or less the same as the Galaxy S22 Ultra, every single aspect of the phone has been laid bare.

Meet the Galaxy S23 Ultra

Just like every smartphone in South Africa goes through ICASA first, TENAA is the hurdle manufacturers have to clear for China. It’s just that this time, China’s regulator has dropped the ball for Samsung. Without further ado, here’s what’s inside the yet-to-be-announced S23 Ultra.

There’s a 6.8in 3,088 x 1,440 Super AMOLED display coming. The handset will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen2 and will include either 8GB or 12GB of RAM. That’s not a hedge — there are three storage options: 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. The largest will certainly include 12GB of RAM and the 512GB model may also. That’s unconfirmed at this point.

Further inside, a 4,855mAh (which will be listed as 5,000mAh) battery will power the whole thing. It’ll only feature 25W charging, apparently, but Samsung sells a 40W charge block so perhaps this info is a little misleading.

The rear camera setup is a 200MP main that will likely have some ridiculous claim attached to it. It might even be mostly true. Elsewhere, the Galaxy S23 Ultra will also include a 12MP ultrawide sensor and dual 10MP lenses. Both are for telephoto (3x and 10x) but the Chinese leak lists these lenses as 12MP. Samsung upscales its 10MP sensors to 12MP, according to SamMobile. Up front, along with the under-display fingerprint reader, is a 12MP selfie shooter.

Everything else seems bog standard otherwise. The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra will weigh 233 grams and will feature 5G, GPS, a gyro sensor, Bluetooth… you know, all the things you kinda expect from your smartphone. All we need now is for Unpacked to roll around so we can get an official look at Samsung’s latest.
