A short while ago Stuff published its Samsung Galaxy A53 review and we’re already seeing leaks about the follow-up – the Galaxy A54. The leaks were brought to light by 91Mobiles and Steve Hemmerstoffer (also known as OnLeaks), in the form of new 5K renders. These give us a pretty good idea of the design differences Samsung is opting for this time around – which is to say, not much.
You know the drill
Despite OnLeaks telling us otherwise, these leaked “renders” look mightily like Samsung’s own official press photos. Considering OnLeaks’ track record, we wouldn’t be wholly surprised if he was a Samsung employee disguised as a leaker. We can neither confirm nor deny that, but we won’t throw the theory out the window just yet. Have you ever seen OnLeaks and the head of Samsung in the same room before? Neither have we.
Back to the matter at hand. Besides switching up the number on the box and adding a few new colours to throw in front of the word ‘Awesome’, not much else has changed. There is a handful of minor differences — emphasis on ‘minor’.
The first difference you’ll notice is the camera’s borders are missing. The whole unit has been sunk into the phone’s body, with just the lenses sticking up. The screen is reportedly smaller than the A52 and A53 with a 6.4in display. Why Samsung is (potentially) going backward here, we couldn’t tell you.
It features the same triple camera array, with no word yet on its specs. Older leaks reckon that a 5,000mAh battery could be on the cards, though nothing is official. We can guess that it’ll feature a 120Hz display because that’s what its predecessor managed to accomplish.
We’ll probably see the official announcement from Samsung in a month or two. Until then, this is all we know about the A54. We’re also betting that the official release will have at least one or two of OnLeak’s renders tucked away in there.
