You remember Game of Thrones, right? That epic fantasy show based on a still unfinished book series? (Yes, George, we’re not going to shut up about that. Stop making video games and write.) The one that screwed it all up in the last season? Yeah, that show’s going to be turned into NFTs, apparently.
This makes a sort of sense. In the game of thrones, you win or you die. NFTs are a little bit like that. Some people make money from it. Everyone else has to lose it in order for this to happen. See? It’s synergy.
Game of Thrones NFTs? Nifty!
Okay, so the planned launch of fantasy-themed NFTs doesn’t actually look like it’s supposed to be a massive money spinner. We think. The outing is called Game of Thrones: Build Your Realm and it sounds more like an NFT-based game. It lets fans build a GoT collection “…through avatars, thematic activities, on-site engagement, and additional digital collectibles”.

Which sounds an awful lot like an NFT-based game on the blockchain. Especially the bit where you can collect “equipables”. These are “…weapons, companions, or gear — that can be burned and forged, allowing fans to customize and strengthen their avatar.” The project is being run by NFT specialists Nifty’s, which has worked on previous media projects like a Looney Tunes NFT collection.
There’s little detail beyond the fact that it’ll be a game-like experience powered by NFTs. That’s not much info, but it all suggests a level of accessibility. Expect lower prices for these digital collectibles, assuming they’re priced at all. Sure, there will be a few super-rare items that’ll cost a bit more, but that’s the point of a project like this. Assuming it gains traction, that is.
