Samsung South Korea steps up with a Starbucks case collaboration

Samsung in South Korea really seems out to impress specific blocks of fans. Specifically, coffee fans. Following its Pokémon partnership, with custom versions of the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Buds 2, there’s a Starbucks collab on the boil.

First spotted, outside of South Korea, by 9to5Google, this is a slightly less intense cross-branding session. It’s for Samsung’s latest and greatest hardware, yes, but the hardware isn’t custom. Mostly, it’s just a collection of cases, for the Galaxy S22 series of phones, and the Galaxy Buds 2.

Gotta get those Starbucks

A few of these cases are straight-up branding. You know the story — brand colours, and a logo. But there are a few more… whimsical designs in the offing as well.  One case looks like a Starbucks receipt, another like a set of company uniform suspenders. And then there’s the custom case for the Galaxy Buds 2, which looks like a lovely little cappuchino. Hmmm, cappuccino…

The cases are all made from eco-friendly material, according to Samsung, but there is a catch. First of all, they’re exclusive to South Korea. Second of all, they’re only available in limited numbers. So when they’re gone, they’re gone. At least, that’s the theory. If there’s a significant response (and Starbucks and Samsung are willing to extend the partnership), they might turn up elsewhere.
