It’s almost here. Disney+ is, at most, a few hours away from being available in South Africa. If you still haven’t signed up for a discounted annual price, you should probably do that now. If you’ve already ticked that box, then you probably want to be utterly certain which platforms the service is coming to.
Well, let’s take care of that. If you’re using a computer or a smartphone, you’re pretty much sorted. But if you’re a fan of specifics, here’s exactly where you can stream Disney+ from, as of tomorrow.
Disney+. Disney+ everywhere
At launch, in South Africa, the Mouse’s streaming service will be available on Apple and Android devices. If you’re using something running on Android 4.4.4 (damn, that’s far back) or an iOS 10 or newer device, you’re sorted.
All the major web browsers are covered. Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Microsoft’s Edge are getting some Disney+ love. It’s likely that other, less well-known browsers will work just fine too. It just won’t be official, okay?
And then there are devices. It doesn’t look like any game consoles will feature the app at launch, but it will work on Android TVs (OS 7.0 or better) and the Chromecast (Gen-2, running firmware 1.43 or better). It’ll also run on Apple tvOS 11 devices. That’s fourth-generation Apple hardware or better. Finally, Disney+ will launch on LG smart TVs (WebOS 4.0 or better) and basically every Samsung smart TV. Because marketing deal, in that last case.
