Any time you see a website on the internet asking you to fill out surveys for cash, expect that they’re about to rip you off. Except, perhaps, in the case of Google Opinion Rewards. This is an app supported by Google that offers users rewards. For expressing their opinion. Seems kinda obvious, based on the name.
The app first launched in the States in 2013. Users download the app, answer questions when they’re available, and are rewarded with Play Store credit. And now, the app has finally landed in South Africa.
That’s just, like, your opinion, man
At least, that’s the word according to Android Police. But we went to check out the app itself, and it’s definitely working in SA. And in four other new countries — Columbia, Finland, Hungary, and Vietnam are getting a look-in too. But we’re not all that concerned about them. We’re invited, for a change. That’s enough.
The official availability page has yet to be updated with the new countries, but that shouldn’t take long to be corrected. While you’re waiting, you can download Google Opinion Rewards, answer a few basic questions, and then start filling in surveys in return for Google Play credits. Those can be used to buy digital items on Google’s store, from apps to movies to music and games.
What isn’t known is the app’s pay scale in South Africa. American users get up to $1 per survey, which works out to around R15 a pop. Depending on how inquisitive Google is, that could add up to a tidy little sum over a period of weeks. Go and check it out.
