Netflix just introduced a gaming-while-watching feature for those of us who can’t pick one or the other. And we applaud you for that, Netflix. Think about how cool was it making your own choices in the dark series, Black Mirror: Bandersnatch. That… was a little depressing, though.
Instead, for all the trivia night fans out there, Netflix in April plans to offer one hell of a game night. That should perk things up.
A squiz at Trivia Quiz
Trivia Quiz is based on the popular game Trivia Crack, which is inspired by classic family board games like Trivial Pursuit. This animated series will take viewer/player-combos through 24 questions every day during the month of April — and, hopefully, this is no joke.
Just like the classic board games we all love, questions will cover a range of categories; think science, history, pop culture, and more. It will share questions on the screen in a multiple-choice format, and we’re predicting televised game show vibes. It just wouldn’t be the same, otherwise.
Choose your own adventure
But there’s more to Trivia Quest than you think. Trivia Quest is a narrative and interactive experience much like all other Netflix interactive shows, which means each “yay!” moves the story along.
The viewer/player must help a hero character named Willy rescue the helpless people of Trivia Land from the malevolent villain, Evil Rocky. With a name like that, you know he doesn’t just do it on the weekends. Evil Rocky wants all the world’s knowledge for himself. And his dubious plans, of course. As the viewer/player reaches different levels, they slowly release the poor Trivia Land folk from bondage. No, not like that.
And by the end.. well, by the end you’ll either be sure you’re good at trivia, great at Google, or suffering from serious bad luck when it comes to guesses. We’re sure the saga of Willie and Evil Rocky will work itself out too.
