Horizon: Forbidden West fans must add this Tallneck Lego set to their shelves come May

If you’ve been paying attention to game reviews lately, you’ll have seen that Horizon: Forbidden West is doing very, very well. The sequel to one of the PlayStation 4’s best hits is performing well, as far as critics go. That’s a good thing for everyone, but brick-maker Lego is perhaps the most pleased. See, they’ve got a new set based on the PlayStation 5 exclusive landing in May this year.

Bring me the Horizon (Lego set)

Lego fans can expect a splendid-looking new set to launch in a few months. The iconic Tallneck, that roaming giraffe-looking thing that reveals the game’s map once you manage to climb the bugger, is turning up in brick form. And, in terms of design, the Danish company’s designers have outdone themselves.

The 1,222-piece Tallneck itself looks extremely close to its digital counterpart. Angular legs, the flat dish-like head, and places to scale the beast are all present. There’s a more-or-less to scale Aloy minifigure included, as well as a base showing some of the landscape, and a small Watcher figure. The Watcher’s eyes can be swapped out to display its alert status, in case you’re a giant nerd like that. It’s a neat, if rather minor, touch. The whole thing stands about 34cm high and is 17cm deep, in case you’re measuring shelf space already.

And the expected price actually makes this set well worth buying. International pricing is set at $80 for the 1,222-piece set — that works out to around R1350 or so in South Africa. That’s just over R1 a brick — for a licensed set, that’s basically nothing. Local distributor Greatyellowbrick loves to hang on to pricing info till the very last second, though. Expect the confirmed costs sometime in April, but also expect it to be very close to international pricing.
