Samsung’s previous flagship range of devices, the S21 and friends, will turn one year old soon. Which means we’re due for an upgrade. Samsung’s upcoming flagship devices, the rumoured S22 range, have been a hot topic in the rumour mill as of late. Here’s everything we know so far.
Dummy models of the devices surfaced online recently, and the gig was over once YouTubers started getting a hold of ‘em. But these dummies revealed something much more interesting than we could’ve ever expected – another Note-style device.

Samsung’s taking Note
A video from Unbox Therapy revealed the three upcoming devices by accident. The video was quickly delisted, but knowing the internet all-too-well, was copied and reuploaded. We’ve seen these dummies all over by now, so it’s safe to say they’re close to the real McCoy.
The three devices include the regular S22 along with the S22 Plus – both featuring similar design formats. The S22 Ultra is an odd one though, it brings back the boxed shape we know from the Note range – and includes an internally mounted S-Pen. The S22 and S22 Plus look similar to the S21-series, complete with camera bumps across the top left side of their backs. Both of these feature three camera sensors in the housing.
According to a leaked spec sheet, the base S22 will feature a 6.1in display while the S22 Plus is fitted with a 6.55in display. The Verge believes, taking into account a previous leak, that the two base S22 models will feature a 50MP main camera sensor, along with a telephoto and wide-angle lens on each.
The S22 Ultra/Note, however, may very well launch toting Samsung’s big-boy 108MP sensor, along with a 12MP ultrawide, a 10MP 3x telephoto, and a 10MP 10x periscope. That’s thanks to a spec sheet leak seen on Twitter.
This 108MP sensor will feature something called “Super Clear Glass,” which appears to be some kind of Gorilla Glass for camera lenses. In addition, another leak suggests that the larger S22 variation will come featuring fast charging with an accompanied 45W charger. Or we hope it’s accompanied – future device owners may have to shell out a bit more cash for that one.
When can we expect them?
On to the reason we’re all hyped this early in the year: the actual launch date for the S22 range may have leaked. According to reports, the reveal event is set for 9 February 2022. The same sources believe that pre-orders will open on the same day, which the brand’s done in the past. We’re hoping the company isn’t too affected by shortages and supply chain issues so the world can get its hands on Samsung’s latest tech in about a month.
