Epic Games teases Unreal Engine tech demo feat Keanu Reeves

The developers behind Fortnite, Epic Games, also own Unreal Engine – a platform used to build games and digital experiences. In 2020, it revealed Unreal Engine 5 and demoed what the platform is capable of. Now it’s released a teaser for an upcoming demo featuring Keanu Reeves, named The Matrix Awakens.

Just in time for the The Matrix Revolutions to hit cinema screens this month, the demo will show off what the UE tech can do on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S platforms. If you’re the lucky owner of one of these consoles, you can now download the demo that’s a mere 29GB in size.

But you won’t be able to play it yet. You remember The Game Awards 2021? That’s happening on Thursday 9 December. That’s when Epic will reveal The Matrix Awakens tech demo and make it available to everyone.

“How do we know what is real?”

“Created by members of the original movie team including Lana Wachowski along with Epic Games and partners, ‘The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 Experience’ is a wild ride into the reality-bending universe of ‘The Matrix’ that features performances by Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss,” the teaser reads.

The teaser available on YouTube (also, check below) is very short, and gives us a small glimpse at Keanu’s lovely digital face.

The teaser says that it will offer “a glimpse into the future of interactive storytelling and entertainment with UE5 in this free, boundary-pushing cinematic and real-time tech demo.”
