Samsung, the leakiest boat in tech, has seen its upcoming Galaxy S22 Ultra smartphone leak far in advance of anything like an official announcement. We’re most likely to see something official from Samsung in late February or early March 2022 but for now, let’s all just peer at these dummy S22 Ultra handsets.
Is this the Galaxy S22 Ultra?
The metal blanks found by Italian website Coverpigtou.it claim to show the basic design for Samsung’s upcoming smartphone flagship. That’s a big whoop, generally speaking. There’s only so much innovation you can achieve with something that’s mostly made of glass, but Samsung might have some interesting ideas for the Galaxy S22 Ultra’s camera.
The rear of the blank shows a P-shaped camera bump, which lines up with previous rumours that Samsung’s camera-centric headliner will be the only device launched in the early parts of next year featuring significant design changes.
It’s also thought that Samsung will be putting the S Pen stylus from the Note lineup into its higher-end S-series devices — though that’s not evident from this leak. Which means either the blank doesn’t show everything, or someone’s milled up a piece of metal for the attention. Given the initial leak’s provenance, it’ll probably prove irrelevant. OnLeaks generally don’t make mistakes when it comes to Samsung info.
