Oppo smartphones now available from Telkom on contract

About a year ago Oppo officially launched its brand of smartphones in South Africa. Since then, its devices haven’t been available on contract from all of the local mobile networks, which was a shame, as they offer decent quality at a fair price. Now the company’s range of available devices can be found in Telkom Mobile’s catalogue.

Oppo, never stoppo

According to a press release, Oppo has sold more than 100,000 devices in the country since its launch in September 2020.

Oppo Reno 5 mainIt faced a challenge launching in the middle of a pandemic in a lockdown-laden South Africa. But it looks like it’s overcome some odds — partly thanks to another Chinese smartphone maker mostly losing market share locally and abroad.

“Working with Telkom, one of South Africa’s most affordable telecommunication retailers, we’re able to offer our users the best value for money,” says Liam Faurie, the company’s head of GTM and operations in SA.

While it’s not offering the entire range of smartphones through the Telkom network, customers can opt for one of the following devices: Reno5 5G, A75 5G and the A16s.

“We are delighted to partner with OPPO to bring this incredible brand to our customers, as part of a/our continuous drive towards enabling access to innovative and compelling products and services. Now South Africans can join millions of people around the world who get to experience OPPO technology; taking us a step closer to our mission, to leave no man behind,” says Gugu Mthembu, Telkom’s chief marketing officer.
