OnlyFans has been the go-to platform for people looking to make real money for legitimate digital sex work. While the platform became famous for its promiscuous users, it’s now shifting its focus in an attempt to launch an app on both Android and iOS.
Until now, OnlyFans users and their subscribers need to head to a web application on either desktop or mobile to access and post content. While it’s completely possible, it may have become a drag as the company pushes for its own app. Google Play Store and iOS App Store won’t approve its app. So it’s launching an app branded… differently.
OnlyFans, but make them clean
Called OFTV, the app features many existing OnlyFans accounts and creators, but will only contain safe for work (SFW) content. Interesting thing, though, is that the app launched back in January, but the company is only now promoting it heavily. “It’s part of the company’s attempt to move beyond adult content and position itself as a neutral platform like Patreon, allowing entertainers, musicians, and creators to monetize their relationships with fans,” The Verge details.
“OFTV provides a super convenient way for fans to watch content from favorite creators. There’s no adult content on OFTV. Because it’s not being monetized and there’s no direct impact on creators’ earnings, we are able to be in the app store,” says OnlyFans CEO Tim Stokely in an interview with Bloomberg.
The app currently features more than 800 videos, which include a series labeled “Unlocked”, featuring interviews with figures like media personality and former pornographic actress Mia Khalifa, and actress and director Bella Thorne, The Verge reports.
Its SFW content includes topics like cooking, meditation, dancing and surfing. It’s also currently free to use, but fans of certain creators can subscribe to them directly.
