Mere days before Samsung’s next Unpacked event, an unboxing video of the upcoming Galaxy Buds 2 was released on YouTube from a relatively small channel, The Mobile Central. This channel previously released a video of the Galaxy Watch 3 before it officially launched, so it seems like distributors in this area like to make a habit of jumping the gun.
The video confirms many rumoured features that were leaked not too long ago. In this video, we see the buds in the olive green colourway, which we’ll admit isn’t our favourite, but we’re sure there’ll be others to choose from.
Samsung’s Galaxy Buds 2 have already bloomed
The Galaxy Buds 2’s case looks an awful lot like the Galaxy Buds Pro case and just like the pros, the new buds will also feature a USB Type-C charging port and support wireless charging as well.
Another confirmed rumour is the Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) which, from what the packaging says, should be improved from the last iteration. But why wouldn’t they say that? We’ll need to get our hands on these to put them through their paces before we can confirm for ourselves.
Seems like the rumours were right about the battery life though, 5-20 hours with ANC on and an extra 10 hours if you turn it off.
From the video, we can gather the pairing process for the Galaxy Buds 2 is even less painful than Samsung’s other buds. You don’t even need to take the buds out of their case, just long-press both buds and it should automatically pair to the Samsung Wear app and download a small 10MB update.
That’s only if you’re pairing them to your Samsung phone. If you’re outside of the ecosystem, it’s still unclear if they’ll be compatible with the iOS earbud app like the Buds+ or if you’ll be stuck with a standard Bluetooth connection like with the Buds Pro.
The YouTube host notes that they sound good (in his opinion) and fit comfortably in his ears, more so than his Jabra Elite 85T ANC buds. We’ll need them in our ears before we can give them Stuff’s stamp of approval.
