Following the PlayStation 5 reveal event, fans of the console were almost more excited about Stray, a game featuring an adorable lone feline teased in a short clip, than they were for the console itself. We were among those, and couldn’t wait to gain a more detailed look at the strangely dystopian futurescape featuring robotic inhabitants and the tiny cat the player controls.
Now, publisher Annapurna Interactive has released an extended trailer featuring actual gameplay, mechanics and a small taste of the storyline. In addition, we know that the release of the game has been pushed out from ‘end 2021’ to ‘early 2022’, so we’ll have to wait a bit. But if this trailer is anything to go by, it’ll be completely worth it.
Cyberpunk lead a-Stray
The trailer details the neon-clad Night City (sorry), and the adorable feline protagonist. Players will control the cat’s movements as it navigates through the city to find its family.
You’ll use uniquely feline movements and skills to solve puzzles and get out of tricky situations. Some cool features teased include a tiny drone companion that allows for more intricate interactions and a lot of verticality on boxes/buildings/anything a cat can scale.
Your fluffy protagonist also has a playful personality, and may end up scratching furniture, rubbing up against bipedal city inhabitants and messing with vending machines. When, that is, the little critter isn’t sprinting away from hazards or saving lives. You’ll see. Watch the trailer.
Stray will launch in 2022 sometime (early, at least), on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC.
