This weekend, which according to 343 Industries starts today, Halo Infinite will get its first technical multiplayer preview. However, it’s important to note that access to the preview is by invite-only, but nothing is stopping you from applying. Whether or not you’re picked to be a part of this test is up to the people at 343 Industries.

The short preview, running from today (29 July) until Sunday (1 August), will allow players to test various multiplayer aspects of the free game mode launching later this year.

Halo Infinite bots are waiting to be shot

In this first Halo Infinite preview, selected insiders will be testing out AI bots in a bot area to “gather feedback on Bot behaviour and online performance,” says 343 Industries. The area will include a variety of challenges throughout the weekend across three unique maps and although you might have already dismissed the bots, 343 cautions that they won’t be pushovers.

Players will also have access to a firing range, dubbed Weapons Drill, where they’ll be able to test out weapons before entering the arena.

Along with these features, 343 Industries will also be looking for feedback on the Halo Infinite UI. Such as how players navigate the in-game shop, unlock battle passes and interact with challenges as 343 says the preview will feature a small range of customisation options and a shortened battle pass.

Taking a page out of EA’s book, 343 will also be testing out the new Halo Waypoint mobile and web app here you can view your progress and carry out the all-important act customising of your Spartan. Sounds a lot like EA’s Battle Log.

If you’re a big fan of the franchise and you can’t wait to get your hands on anything and everything Halo, then there’s one or two hoops you’ll need to jump through to become eligible.

You’ll need to sign up to be an insider if you aren’t already, and if you’re on PC you’ll need to upload the results from your dxdiag spec sheet (instructions on how to do this are detailed on the sign up page). You’ll also need to make sure you opt-in to communications and verify your email address. Then you just sit back to see if you’ve been picked. Maybe go make a sandwich or something because it could take a while.

Halo Infinite’s free multiplayer mode will launch along side the campaign in Autumn this year barring any further delays. It will be available on PC and Xbox and will even run at 120fps on the Xbox Series X. We can’t wait.
